12 Formation – Week 13 Tight End Start/Sits

It’s Week 13 and @dynastydadmike has the tight end starts and sits to make sure you make the playoffs!

Hey Nerds! The DynastyNerds writers are here to provide you with weekly starts and sits. We will be making our recommendations based on weekly consensus PPR rankings from FantasyPros. Here is our squad, and the position groups they will be covering to help you each week. Follow us, friend us, tweet us, we look forward to hearing from you!

NOTE: Rankings are based on a 12-team PPR league. So, saying WR2 means top 24, or TE1 means top 12, etc. and are pulled from Fantasy Pros consensus expert rankings.

I hope everyone had a great and safe Thanksgiving. We are into Week 13, which for most of my leagues, is the final week before playoff time! I appear to be making the playoffs in four of my six leagues this year, including the Scott Fish Bowl! Let’s hope your favorite Nerd Analyst can take home a ship! Recap Time – Hunter Henry (13.7), Jordan Akins (.4 with a touchdown drop), Austin Hooper (9.3 with a touchdown). My sits were Jared Cook (0), Tyler Eifert (10.6), and Chris Herndon (0). Overall, a decent week for your favorite Dynasty Nerds Tight End Analyst.

BYE WEEKS – Rob Gronkowski, Ian Thomas, Cameron Brate

STARTS

Hunter Henry – Los Angeles Chargers  (TE 6)

Just like last week on my list, Henry will be a starter again this week in my fantasy lineups. Henry has finished as a top ten tight end in each of the last three weeks. Henry has become one of Herbert’s favorite targets, including seeing 10 looks his way last week against Buffalo. I would continue to ride Henry’s hot streak this week against the Patriots.

Dallas Goedert – Philadelphia Eagles (TE5)

Don’t let the return of Zach Ertz scare you off of Goedert. Goedert saw a team-high ten targets in Week 12 and has seen at least six targets in each of his last three games. The game script looks for Wentz or whoever Philadelphia throws at quarterback to be throwing to keep up.

  Mike Gesicki (Dolphins Wire)

Mike Gesicki – Miami Dolphins (TE10)

Gesicki has seen five targets in each of his last three games and now faces the Bengals, who have allowed the most receiving yards to the position. The Bengals have allowed the fourth-most points to the position, so if there were ever a time for Gesicki to pop, it would be this week! FantasyPros states that The Bengals are one of four teams in the league who’ve allowed four 15-plus point performances to tight ends.

SITS

Logan Thomas -Washington Football Team (TE19)

Thomas gets the Steel Curtain, who also happens to be the stingiest defense to the tight ends. Steelers have allowed only one touchdown to the position and allow the third-fewest receptions and receiving yards to the position. With possible playoff implications on the line, I would avoid Thomas.

Jared Cook – New Orleans Saints (TE26)

In a very favorable matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Cook cannot be trusted as a viable start. Cook has seen only three targets in the two games with Taysom Hill under center. Cook also hasn’t had over 80 yards receiving this year since his Week 1 performance. He also hasn’t had a top 10 tight end performance since Week 8.

Jordan Reed – San Francisco 49ers (TE16)

The Bills have been a middle of the road defense against the position this year. But, with the possibility of Matt Milano returning, I would fade Reed from your lineup. It also appears that Brandon Aiyuk is returning from his Covid designation, which is never a good sign for a player needing targets on a run-heavy team.
