The NFL trade deadline is November 3rd and many big-name players could be on the move this year. I take a look at a few guys I’d love to see in new situations that would improve their value in dynasty leagues, let’s get started!
Preferred landing spot- Miami Dolphins
First up is third-year RB Gus Edwards. Edwards has shown great flashes as an early-down runner since he entered the league in 2018. He put up 718 rushing yards on 137 carries to go with two touchdowns as a rookie. He followed it up with 711 rushings in his sophomore season in mostly a reserve/backup role. With the addition of JK Dobbins via the draft, Gus has been somewhat an afterthought for the Ravens.
The landing spot I have for Edwards is the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins sit at 4-3, which is good for second place in the AFC East. They made a move to QB Tua Tagovailoa during the bye week, they want to compete this year, and Gus Edwards would be a great addition to help them do so.
The Dolphins have made Jordan Howard a healthy scratch over the past few weeks, he was set to be the early downs runner for them, and it hasn’t worked out. They have lacked a true between the tackles runner this season. While second-year pro Myles Gaskin has been solid, they can use a bruiser. I think Edwards would fit that role flawlessly. At just 25 years old, Edwards would fit the timeline for the young dolphin team. It be would also be a major upgrade for Edwards dynasty value. The third-year running back would jump right into weekly flex consideration with the chance for more. Edwards has talent. Now he just needs the opportunity.
Preferred landing spot-Buffalo Bills
FREE DAVID NJOKU! No, seriously, this man needs a new team. The Uber athletic TE has fallen out of favor in Cleveland. With Free Agent signing Austin Hooper as well as Rookie Harrison Bryant, there’s no room for Njoku on the Browns roster. Njoku was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s still just 24 years old with mega upside. The former first-round pick flashed his upside in his second season, posting a 56/639/4 line, which is very impressive for a young TE. He missed all but 1 game of his third season due to injury, and since then, he hasn’t been able to get back on track. He has requested a trade multiple times, but the team has refused. Since Bryant has flashed in Hooper’s absence, now may finally be when the Browns move on from Njoku.
If Njoku was to get traded, the Buffalo Bills make a ton of sense to me. The Bills lack a true playmaker at TE. Njoku would also pair nicely with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. The Bills are in first place in the AFC East, which sounds crazy even to type. They’re legit contenders, so they will be looking to be buyers come deadline time. Calling up the Browns for the ultra-talented TE wouldn’t be a bad idea.
This would skyrocket the dynasty value of Njoku as well as his season-long value. The former first-round pick would jump right into TE1 consideration if he were to end up in Buffalo. It would be a true match made in heaven for the Bills offense. I still believe that David Njoku can be one of the best TEs in football. A change of scenery may capture that potential.
Preferred landing spot– Green Bay Packers
The speedster’s career has not gotten off to the start many have hoped for so far. Since being drafted 9th overall by the Bengals in 2017, Ross has tallied just 51 catches for 733 yards and 10 TD’s in his career. He’s played in just 27 of a possible 56 games to this point. It’s safe to say that he has been bust for the Cincinnati Bengals, but I believe he has some untapped potential.
What’s a better way to try and reach that potential than playing with future HOF QB Aaron Rodgers? Since Green Bay passed on WR in a stacked class, they have been desperately trying to find their WR2 to line up across from Adams. John Ross could be that guy. He’s at the very least worth sending a late pick to see if you have something. Ross is just 25 and has a lot of football left in him. The Bengals don’t even activate him on game days, so it would make sense for them to move on.
Ross doesn’t have very much dynasty value left at the moment, so it could only go up from here, right? Ross landing in Green Bay would do wonders for his value. We would finally get to see him get a legit shot with a great QB. Hopefully, this deal can get done, and the former 9th overall pick could revitalize his career.
