As Week 4 of the college season came to a close, we saw massive upsets and a top conference in the SEC open up play. We were finally able to put eyes on some of the top NFL draft prospects for the incoming 2021 class. It was exciting to watch some players succeed while, unfortunately, others faltered. Let’s take a look at the players who’s stock changed over this weekend, including a chart at the bottom, giving you a more detailed look at how values have changed over the past few weeks.
Stock Up
Matt Corral- QB, Ole Miss
- Height- 6’1
- Weight- 205
- Class- Rs-So
- Draft Eligible- 2022
Matt Corral looked good Saturday. He made some very good throws into tight windows, looked poised in the pocket, and showed some true leadership on the field. Florida is a talented team and defense that outing for Corral was very positive. I’m excited to continue to watch Corral throughout the season. He’s a quarterback I think will continue to rise playing against tough SEC competition.

KJ Costello- QB, Mississippi State
- Height- 6’5

Costello saw his senior year cut short last year at Stanford after just five games due to injuries to his thumb and suffering a concussion. Costello transferred to Miss. St. with Head Coach Mike Leach, whos well known for his air raid offense. It’s only been one week, but this pairing has already been amazing. Costello threw for his personal best and an SEC record 623 passing yards in a single game against a very good LSU team.

Malik Willis- QB, Liberty
- Height- 6’1

Malik Willis spent his first two college seasons with Auburn and never really saw the field, having just 11 pass attempts in two years. He transfers to Liberty and wins the starting job. Not many analysts talked about Willis before the season or gave him much due, myself included. After two games in 2020, we need to be paying attention to Willis now. In two games, he’s has shown to not only be a very good passer but be able to create offense with his legs, as he is currently the leading rusher on his team. While Western Kentucky isn’t anything to write home about, FIU finished last season as a top 50 defense finishing 46th. Willis will some other tough matchups on the schedule, move the kid up your board now before you’re left behind.

Najee Harris- RB, Alabama
- Height- 6’2

Harris decided to come back for his senior season, likely to try and improve his draft stock. This will likely the last time you’ll see him on my stock up list as he has moved up to my RB1 for the 2021 draft class. Harris is a bruising runner but can also hurt you in the receiving game. He looked as good as expected to start the season, and I expect him to dominate all season.

Kylin Hill- RB, Mississippi State

Kylin Hill came back for his senior year, which was surprising for some. While he likely wouldn’t have been a high pick, he was considered a good prospect. The biggest knock on Hill last year, not enough work in the receiving game. Already in 2020, we can see that it won’t be an issue. Head coach Mike Leach and his air raid offense will see Hill get most of his work in the receiving game. He still has some inconsistencies running the ball, but being in this offense will likely continue to raise his stock.

CJ Johnson- WR, ECU

CJ Johnson is a divisive prospect currently in the devy community. Many like him because of his size and great hands. He does a good job attacking the ball in the air and winning contested catches. His ability to get YAC is also one of his game’s better parts, and we saw that Saturday in his lone touchdown. While only two catches in this game, he did turn one into a touchdown with a great run and stiff arm after the catch.

Jordan Addison- WR, PITT

True freshman Addison has been on fire these past two games and playing like a veteran as he is the teams leading receiver through two games. Addison has stepped up into the top role with star wide receiver Taysir Mack being out. Mack should be back soon, so we will see how that will affect Addison moving forward. If he stays in the slot role, though, I’m expecting a huge year and some awards coming Addison’s way.

Treylon Burks- WR, Arkansas

Treylon Burks is one of the phenomenal wide receivers on Arkansas. Burks YAC ability and catch radius make him a very intriguing prospect, even on a bad offense and team like Arkansas. Burks first game was a successful one. It will be fun to watch how he and fellow wide receiver Trey Knox play this year. Burks so far has looked better one game into the season.

Osirus Mitchell- WR, Mississippi State

Osirus Mitchell literally came out of nowhere. No one in the devy community was discussed the breakout year for Mitchell, but it definitely looks like it’s on its way. While some will argue Mitchell is a product of the Mike Leach system, he looked really good Saturday against a top defense in college. The system definitely helped showcase Mitchell Saturday. He is now firmly on my radar moving forward.

Holding Stock
Spencer Rattler- QB, Oklahoma

Spencer Rattler came out and had one of the best starts to a college career you can ask for. Then all of sudden, week two hits, and he looks like a different quarterback. Rattler still made some good throws but had some bad mistakes. My biggest takeaway from this game was, Kansas State has had Lincoln Riley’s number the past couple of years. This was just Rattler’s second college start. He’s still one of the more talented quarterbacks in college. Don’t panic trade or fade Rattler just yet. His best is yet to come.

Myles Brennan- QB, LSU

Myles Brennan had to step in after one of if not the most prolific college offenses last year. There was some hype for Brennan in that LSU didn’t seem to want to go after any transfer-listed quarterbacks and decided to stick with him with Joe Burrow entering the draft. Brennan is a very accurate passer and seems to read defenses well, which we were able to see some of Saturday. While it was not an overall great game, it was Brennan’s first game as the starter with a serious loss of weapons around him. I’m holding on Brennan right now as I expect his stock to rise moving forward.

Eric Gray- RB, Tennessee

Eric Gray broke out late last year and got his run due to injuries to the starting running back. Gray played so well he built up a little bit of a cult following among the devy community and secured the starting job. While not a good game against South Carolina on Saturday, Gray did have a couple of good runs that reminded us just how good he could be. Tennessee will not have a good offense this year, but Gray is a player you should hold and make sure you watch on Saturdays.

Stock Down
Brock Purdy- QB, Iowa State

Brock Purdy was in the discussion to be one of the top quarterbacks drafted outside the top three players. It’s hard to imagine Purdy could look any worse to start the season. Both of his first games have accentuated everything about his game scouts didn’t like. Purdy needs to turn it around quickly, but honestly, the damage may already be done. He has been my biggest faller over the past two weeks.

Chase Brice- QB, Duke

Brice was a player I had hoped would have some sneaky NFL upside after transferring out of Clemson. While Brice didn’t win his first game, he made some good throws and looked impressive. Since then, he has continued to trend downwards and hasn’t shown much to be excited about. Brice is a guy I hope can turn it around, but he’s sliding down my ranks.

Chuba Hubbard- RB, Oklahoma State

Chuba Hubbard in 2020 has not looked like 2019 Chuba Hubbard. He still has some juice and has had some good runs, but he doesn’t look as explosive as he did last year. Hubbard looked like the best back in college football last year and now doesn’t even look like the best running back on his team this year. This could be more an effect on not having any spring games or real practices. Plus, to be fair, Hubbard only moved down one spot in my running back ranks, falling behind Najee Harris.
