Devy Stock Watch Week 6

Week 6 had plenty of top-25 matchups and separated the contenders from the pretenders. TCU, Tennessee, and UCLA stayed undefeated, while Kansas could not keep their magic undefeated season going. Let’s see who impressed and who disappointed in the Devy Stock watch for Week 6.

Stock Up

Quinn Ewers- QB, Texas

I know Oklahoma has had three straight horrendous defensive efforts but coming back from injury, Quinn Ewers had a huge game in the 49-0 shutout vs. Oklahoma. In a little over two games, he is completing 68% of his passes and has a 173.5 quarterback rating. Ewers looks to be everything we thought he would be coming out of high school, and I cannot wait to see what he can accomplish with the Longhorns.

Quentin Johnston- WR, TCU

I was starting to doubt myself on the hype I had been putting on Quentin Johnston before the season. But in the biggest game of the season, he delivered. His 17 targets more than doubled any game this season, and his 14 receptions are more than the rest of the season combined. I always thought his traits would be enough to get at least Day 2 draft capital, but it was nice to see it on the field. I hope this leads to him producing more for the rest of the year.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson- QB, UCLA

Dorian Thompson-Robinson was put on the watch list last week, and against another top-25 opponent, he put up a huge game in defeating Utah. Over the previous two games, he has 7 passing touchdowns to only 1 interception and has added 2 rushing touchdowns. In 5 of 6 games this year, he has completed over 70% of his passes, and looks like he is up for a huge year.

Players To Keep Eye On

Evan Stewart- WR, Texas A&M

Evan Stewart was the number 11th overall ranked player and second wide receiver, according to 247 Sports. He has been involved in the offense since day one, with at least seven targets each game. Against Alabama, Stewart had his breakout with over 100 yards and made crucial catches in their attempted comeback. He caught 3 of 9 contested passes, and even with subpar quarterback play is showing how talented he is.

Tyler Van Dyke- QB, Miami

Tyler Van Dyke has been on the stock-down list, but this week he looked much more like last year. Even in a losing game, he had almost 500 yards and 3 touchdowns. Miami could not run the ball this game, so we will have to see if this was just a one-off for the Miami passing attack. If Van Dyke can start to get rolling passing the ball, he could help his Devy status and salvage Miami’s season.

Stock Down

Jaren Hall – QB, BYU

This was a huge game for BYU and Jaren Hall. Both fell short against Notre Dame. Hall struggled against Baylor but was able to will BYU to a win. So, this was another game to show his potential for the NFL. It was his worst game of the season and will put into question his draft stock and if he should come back for another year.

Omarion Hampton- RB, North Carolina

I still really like Omarion Hampton as a player, but the hype he was getting early in the season has calmed down. After two of his first three games with over 100 yards, he has not gone over 40 yards in the last three. He still had the most carries against Miami, but Caleb Hood did much more with his opportunities.
