Devy Stock Watch Week 9

Ohio State survived a scare from Penn State, and Tennessee looked impressive against Kentucky. Four top 25 teams also were upset, including big losses by Wake Forest and Oklahoma State. Let’s see who impressed and disappointed in the Devy Stock watch for Week 9.

Stock Up

Zach Charbonnet– RB, UCLA

I have been low on Zach Charbonnet since he transferred to UCLA, but what he has been doing cannot be ignored. He has over 100 yards in 6 of 7 games, and in the last three games, he has been averaging over 7 yards per carry. He has 20 or more carries in 5 of 7 games, so he is showing the ability to be a heavy workhorse. I still question his ability to make people miss within the hole, but he has done enough to stay an intriguing Devy player.

Kenny Mcintosh- RB, Georgia

Another player I was low on before the season was Kenny Mcintosh. I thought Kendal Milton would have a much superior season. The thing is, it doesn’t matter how talented you are if you are not on the field. Mcintosh is second in rushing yards and fourth in receiving yards for the team. Even more impressive is that he only has double-digit carries twice this season.

Parker Washington– WR, Penn State

I was very high on Parker Washington before the season, but he had a very slow beginning to the season. Last week against Minnesota, he had 70 yards and a touchdown. This week vs. Ohio State, he performed how I thought he would all season. He got open at will and was dynamic with the ball. I hope he can keep up this production for the rest of the season.

Players To Keep Eye On

Kaytron Allen– RB, Penn State

Nick Singleton has been getting all the attention for Penn State as the freshman phenom. But people need to pay attention to Kaytron Allen also. He has 472 yards on the season with 5 touchdowns and averages over 5 ypc. In 4 out of the last 5 games, Allen is over 75 yards and is getting a healthy 12 or more carries in those games also. It will be interesting if this stays a duo or if Singleton will take over the role fully in the future.

Audric Estime– RB, Notre Dame

Audric Estime has had an up-and-down season, but in 3 out of the last 5 games, he has gone over 97 yards. Notre Dame has been leaning on the run game, and he has shown some nice things and is averaging over 5 yards a carry. We need to see Estime produce more consistently, but he should be on people’s Devy radars.

Stock Down

Spencer Sanders– QB, Oklahoma State

After leading Oklahoma State to a comeback victory at Texas with 391 yards, some were taking a closer look at Spencer Sanders. College Football changes so fast, as this week against Kansas State, he struggled for only 147 passing yards and an interception. He still has a good TD/INT of 3 to 0, but his completion percentage has been under 60% in the last four games.

Will Levis– QB, Kentucky

I know some have Will Levis as a top-10 NFL Draft pick, but I just do not see it. This year he has thrown 13 touchdowns to 8 interceptions and struggled in a big game against a Tennessee team with a bad defense. I know he has a lot of young receivers, but I do not see the consistency and good decision-making of a first-round talent. Kentucky just fired their offensive coordinator, so we will see if that makes a difference.
