Dynasty Nerds Devy Mock Draft – September

This is our Dynasty Nerds Devy team’s (#DevyNerds) September Devy mock draft. We will do one a month and include some updated Dynasty Nerds Devy average draft positions (ADP). Please, check out the links to our Devy spotlights brought to you by the Dynasty Nerds Devy team at the beginning of each round.

Devy Mock Format

Here is the setup. This is a Devy Mock draft; no high school players are allowed. The format is a twelve-team Superflex (SF), PPR & Tight-End premium (TEP) league with standard roster construction.

Participants & Order

The order for our mock is as follows: 1.01 @cameron10505221, 1.02 @Devy2DynastyFR, 1.03 @ffpeebleschamp, 1.04 @noahrwright, 1.05 @TheHQNerd, 1.06 @FF_TJHernandez, 1.07 @DanT_NFL, 1.08 @devycramps, 1.09 @MandrewNFL, 1.10 @FF_Hulsey, 1.11 @jaredwackerly, 1.12 @_jasonstein

Round 1

Round 1 Dynasty Nerds Devy Spotlights: Bijan Robinson, TreVeyon Henderson, Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Caleb Williams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Anthony Richardson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Braelon Allen, Zach Evans, & Sean Tucker

This is the first Devy mock draft we have done since the season started. And you can see right off the bat there were some significant risers. Anthony Richardson, the electric Florida quarterback, rose from an ADP of 3.01 to pick 1.07 in the September mock. Richardson certainly has the athletic tools, but can he develop into a well-rounded NFL quarterback? The jury is still out. If things don’t go so well this season, he may have to return to school for another year.

Drake Maye is the biggest riser of them all. Maye is a 6’4″ 220-pound sophomore who started this season for the UNC Tarheels on fire. A few games into the season, he looks like one of the better 2024 quarterback prospects. Maye wasn’t selected in our previous three Nerds mock drafts, and now he is being taken in the first round.

A few other observations, Caleb Williams, is pushing upward. And Sean Tucker is now sneaking into the first round, given his dominant performances from 2021 have carried over into 2022.

Round 2

Round 2 Dynasty Nerds Devy Spotlights: Kayshon Boutte, Jordan Addison, Quentin Johnston, Nicholas Singleton, Will Shipley, Marvin Harrison Jr., & Branson Robinson.

The biggest fallers vs. ADP in the second round were Kayshon Boutte & Xavier Worthy. Not sure what’s going on down there in Baton Rouge, but they are not using one of their best players, in Boutte, very effectively. This pushes Kayshon from a mid to early first to the second round. And for Worthy, maybe his sky-high expectations are coming down slightly from his fantastic freshman season.

The biggest risers vs. ADP in the second round were Raheim Sanders and Emeka Egbuka, both sophomores and statistically performing at the top of their class this year.

Round 3

Round 3 Dynasty Nerds Devy Spotlights: Parker Washington, Luther Burden, Mario Williams, Donovan Edwards, Brock Bowers, Tyler Van Dyke, Marvin Mims, Michael Mayer, Will Levis, & Kendall Milton.

The biggest risers vs. ADP in the third round were Parker Washington, Marvin Mims, & Cade Klubnik. Mims has started the 2022 season red hot at Oklahoma. Numbers-wise, he’s leading his class in many important metrics to start the season. Mims wasn’t selected in any of our previous Nerds Mock drafts, but look for him to begin rising Devy draft boards if he keeps up the stellar performances.

And the biggest fallers vs. ADP in the third round were tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer. I think this probably has a little to do with the fact that tight ends are a little less valuable in Devy formats, even if your league is tight end premium.

Round 4

Round 4 Dynasty Nerds Devy Spotlights: Rakim Jarrett, Jermaine Burton, Blake Corum, Cedric Tillman, Michael Trigg, & Tyler Harrell

The biggest fallers in the fourth round were Jermaine Burton and Michael Trigg. Burton had high expectations coming into the season as the next great Alabama wide receiver prospect. But that hasn’t worked out so far. It’s a long season, and Burton has potential, so hopefully, he turns it around, and we see more on-field production.

And the September draft continues to see tight ends fall as Trigg joins Bowers and Mayer, all falling 6-7 spots in ADP. Jaren Hall, Zach Charbonnet, & Tyler Harrell were all ADP risers.

Round 5

Round 5 Dynasty Nerds Devy Spotlights: Evan Stewart, Devon Achane, & Jaydon Blue

And round five is our final round in this mock. Devon Achane and Jaydon Blue were the big fallers against ADP. And there is a guy that took an even more significant fall in Ja’Corey Brooks. Brooks wasn’t even selected in this mock after being a third/fourth rounder in previous mocks. He did have a good week against Vanderbilt, where he put up six receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns. However, that performance didn’t happen until after we concluded this mock.

Adam Randall, a freshman wide receiver at Clemson with tons of potential, and Eric Gray, a former Devy darling running back at Oklahoma, were new additions to the field. And I picked up freshman running back Judkins out of Ole Miss with the last pick in the draft. Judkins has been on a tear and is looking like one of the better true freshman running back prospects.

Just like in June/July/August, there were a lot of Ohio State (6), Alabama (5), & Texas (4) Devy players selected. And a few other schools had three players taken each.

Roster Evaluation

You have seen how each round went down; now, let’s look at each team’s roster. It’s just as important and informative to see the roster breakouts as it is to see the draft order. When you look at it from the roster perspective, you can get an idea of how you can build a Devy pipeline of all different shapes. Look at the Rosters picture above for some excellent examples of building an effective Devy squad.

Dynasty Nerds Devy ADP

Below is our combined Nerds ADP from our Devy Mock drafts from June, July, August, and September. We will keep doing this every month so that it will improve over time.
