Let’s Talk About Flex – week 11

A general rule of thumb is that you are supposed to start your written articles with a witty anecdote. Sadly, I have no witty anecdote to share. Instead, I hope you will stick around for the good old-fashioned top-tier fantasy advice.

Quick side note, I hope you enjoyed watching the greatest catch in all of NFL history last Sunday as much as I did! #Skol

Week 10 had its ups and downs, as usual, and the weekly prognostications were no different. Sadly, Melvin Gordon managed 11 PPR points and brought the weekly record down to 60%, BOO!

Let’s hit a quick recap!

Hits

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Miami put a hurting on the Browns, and no mistake. Thankfully this did not stop DPJ from doing what we needed him to, giving us a solid fantasy week for our flex position. DPJ hauled in 5 receptions for 99 yards but no touchdown and finished as the WR22 on the week. The very odd home-away splits continue for Mr. Peoples-Jones and Mr. Cooper. Another road game is looming in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills. Maybe a double dip is in order?

Jeff Wilson Jr.

Jeffrey was not just a hit, he was a SMASH hit! The newly appointed head of the RBBC put in an RB7 performance on the week!!! That is a massive reward to his fantasy managers of 22.3 fantasy points! Wilson seems like an every-week starter at this time as long as he stays healthy!

Robert Woods

Sadly, Bobby Trees did sort of what I expected him to do, not much. In all fairness, he did have 7 targets, but he only reeled in 2 for 10 yards. OOF! A WR80 performance on the week is not what you want! Hopefully, you were able to pivot off him before the game!

Misses

Melvin Gordon III

MelGo was soooo close to a “hit,” but he got JUST enough passing work to eke out an 11-point performance. In all fairness to Melvin, this didn’t tank your squad, but RB23 is nothing to write home about.

Chase Claypool

If I am being entirely honest, this is the one that hurts the most. Claypool was an absolute faceplant of a call and wrecked your lineups last weekend. If you started him, I apologize.

I got caught up in the potential of what could be and forgot to temper my expectations with the more probable outcome. This was an exciting game, but Fields still only threw the ball 20 times. Claypool was only on the field 31% of the snaps. He is a wait-and-see for now until further notice.

After it’s all said and done, the yearly tally sits at 28-15. A 65% hit rate for these calls is absolutely solid. I am still chasing that 70+% rate by the end of the season, however!

What better time to start than now?!

All players are outside the top 36 at wide receiver and the top 24 at running back per FantasyPros Expert Consensus Rankings. The scoring setting is PPR.

Week 11

Isiah Pacheco KC  RB24 FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranks ⬆️

I am walking a tightrope with this one. Pacheco currently sits right ON the line of demarcation for allowed picks. My guess is he might continue to rise as we get closer to the weekend. After all, the 7th-round rookie out of Rutgers is starting to make a name for himself in Kansas City!

Last week Pacheco led the KC backfield with 16 rush attempts for 82 yards. He also out-snapped Jet McKinnon 56-38%. What about CEH, you ask? He saw 6% of the team’s snaps. Yikes! This week, Pacheco faces off against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football! This season, the Chargers have allowed the third most fantasy points to the running back position. Increased usage plus a juicy matchup makes me feel good about slotting Isiah into my lineups in Week 11!

AJ Dillon GB RB31 FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranks ⬇️

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Quadzilla was once the talk of the town, and now he is the fade of the week. Well, pretty much every week, to be fair. RB37 on the season does not make him overly appealing at the best of times. Dillon’s 65 yards on 13 attempts against the Cowboys was his best statistical outing since Week 4. It still wasn’t enough to even crack 10 PPR points!

This week the Packers take on the Titans, who are, well, Titans, against the run. Tennessee is currently the number 1 defense in RUSH DVOA and allows only 85.1 yards per game on the ground. If you combine the matchup with his lack of work in the passing game, I’m sitting Dillon unless I am desperate.

Brian Robinson Jr. WAS RB28 FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranks ⬆️

Mighty BRob had a MIGHTY workload on Monday Night Football as the beleaguered Commanders shot down the previously undefeated Eagles. Brian ran the rock 26 times for 86 yards and a touchdown in the victorious effort. He out-snapped Antonio Gibson 52-48%, and he got the bulk of the workload on the ground by far.

That all sounds like good news, but wait, there’s more! This week the Commanders get the joy of facing the Houston Texans! The Texans are 31st in RUSH DVOA and give up the MOST fantasy points to the running back position! I would have to have a VERY strong roster to sit BRob this week!

Parris Campbell IND  WR38 FantasyPros Expert Consensus Rank ⬆️

Do you know the old saying, better late than never? Well, that certainly applied to Parris Campbell’s breakout fourth year. All it took was 3+ years in the league and Matty Ice to unlock the former Buckeye’s potential. Who knew?! In his last three starts with Ryan under center, Campbell has had 11, 12, and 9 targets, respectively. He has also had a touchdown in all three games.

The matchup this week is not particularly juicy against the Eagles. Philadelphia let themselves down on MNF, but generally, they have been stout against the wide receiver position. They currently give up the 6th fewest fantasy points to the slot receiver. A reinvigorated Jonathan Taylor should help create more opportunities for Parris this week!

Jaylen Warren PIT RB41 FantasyPros Expert Consensus ⬆️

Jaylen Warren is such a fun character to root for! Working his way from the mighty Snow College to signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a UDFA is epic enough! The fact he is carving out a significant role in a backfield shared with a former first-round pick is even more impressive!

In the Week 10 victory over the New Orleans Saints, Warren played 43% of the snaps to Najee Harris’ 60%. Jaylen managed 9 rush attempts for 37 yards and chipped in 3 receptions for 40 yards as well! Pretty good, right?! He isn’t just getting touches to give Najee a break, either.

According to PFF, among running backs with at least 25 rush attempts this season, Warren ranks 5th in Elusive rating!

The word on the street is that Harris is dealing with some knee discomfort this week in practice. The plan is still for him to play and most likely handle the bulk of the workload. The Bengals will be a difficult matchup coming off their bye week. It will need to be all hands on deck to keep up with Cinci, I reckon. There could be a juicy little role for Warren in your starting lineup in week 11!

Elijah Mitchell RB31 FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranks ⬆️

Mitchell announced his return from IR with a bang last Sunday. He rushed for 89 yards on 18 attempts and even saw two targets! Against the hapless Cardinals in Week 11, I imagine he gets more quality looks. The rumor on the street is that Kyler could miss again this week! I don’t know if Colt McCoy has it in him to press the 49’ers. This could be a positive game script for San Fran. Arizona gives up the 11th most fantasy points to the running back position, so I could see lots of fantasy goodness to go around!

Conclusion

Hopefully, you have found some info in this article that you find useful for your matchups this weekend! I wish you nothing but the best in Week 11! Unless, of course, you are facing me, in which case I hope all your players lay goose eggs!
