That’s Going to Leave a Mark – Week 12 Injury Report

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - DECEMBER 17: Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (28) warms up before the NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings on December 17th, 2022, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. (Photo by Bailey Hillesheim/Icon Sportswire)

Dorian Thompson-Robinson – Concussion, Week to Week

DTR suffered a concussion in the second half of Week 12. We have seen a few athletes cleared to play the following week after suffering a concussion. Watch for his progression through the concussion protocol, but we will likely see PJ Walker under center.

Jonathan Taylor – Thumb, 3-4 Weeks

This appears to be a partially or fully torn UCL. This would impact his ability to catch and hold the ball, so it requires surgery to repair. A two-week absence seems highly unlikely, as he would be at high risk for reinjury returning that soon, but it is the soonest he could return. This puts us in the realm of fantasy playoffs. When he returns, he could be limited in catching passes. We may see the Colts protect their franchise RB by using Moss more, too. He is a risky player to pin your fantasy playoff hopes on. The fact that Indianapolis has not discussed IR is one reason to be optimistic.

Javonte Williams – Stinger, Week to Week

Williams briefly left the game for what appeared to be a stinger but was able to return. I expect Williams to suit up this week. However, we may see more McLaughlin than usual.

Demario Douglas – Head, Week to Week

Douglas exited the game to be evaluated for a concussion and did not return. After the game, he verified he did not suffer a concussion. This is a situation to monitor closely as it’s not clear exactly what kind of injury Douglas sustained or if he may develop concussion symptoms as the week progresses.

Amari Cooper – Ribs, Week to Week

Cooper’s x-rays were negative for a fracture after suffering a large hit to the chest on Sunday. This is likely a bruised rib scenario. Whether Cooper suits up may depend on pain tolerance. I expect him to miss most of practice this week and be a game-time decision.

Chris Olave – Concussion, Week to Week

Similar to DTR, it’s unlikely Olave is cleared to suit up against the Lions. Watch his progression through the concussion protocol this week. If he is active, you should highly consider starting him, given how he has looked as of late.
