Week One has come and gone. We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire week of NFL football to study. The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways!
Mahomes Will Be Fine
The offseason narratives surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs have been about Tyreek Hill and how this offense will look without him. It turns out that everything is going to be just fine. Mahomes reminded the world just how good he is to the tune of five passing touchdowns. Almost all of this occurred during the first half of a complete rout of the Arizona Cardinals. The ball was spread around, but the mainstay was still Travis Kelce. He will be the only consistent thing this season, and all other pass catchers will be startable on a guess who is the best basis.
Broncos Should Have Played Preseason
The opposite of looking fine is whatever product the Denver Broncos displayed to a national audience on Monday Night. Delay of game penalties, false starts, and getting to the line late were all consistent themes for this new Russel Wilson-led team. These are all things that should have been hammered out in August. It is important to note that the starting offense did not play in the preseason. Perhaps they should have. I would not panic on this Broncos offense just yet. Use this as a chance to acquire all of the pass-catchers before Week Two.
Joshua Palmer Breakout Game Coming
The one big takeaway from the Chargers’ victory in Week One has to be the Keenan Allen injury. The Chargers play on Thursday Night Football for a short week against the Chiefs, and Allen will miss time. Injuries have a funny way of lasting longer than initially expected, and if Allen were to miss extended time, Palmer could be in for some tremendous week-to-week production. Buy low while you can!
Davante Adams Dominates
Adams was fed on Sunday, which truly dominated the target share for the Las Vegas Raiders. On 37 Derek Carr pass attempts, Adams was the target of 17 of them. That is a 46% target share! Adams is in for a big season in Las Vegas, and with how this defense looks, the Raiders expect to be in a massive amount of shootouts. The Chargers might be one of the league’s better defenses, and seeing Davante produce against them has to give us confidence for the rest of the year.
Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information and takeaways more than your league mates, you will come out on top.
