Week One Takeaways: The Significant In The NFC East

Week One has come and gone. We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire week of NFL football to study. The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on the top takeaways each week!

Saquon Is Back

One hotly contested debate this summer revolved around Barkley and whether the young running back would escape his injury woes. Add to that the questions surrounding the Giants’ offensive line and the offensive situation in general, and he was a mid-second rounder in redraft leagues this summer. Week One has proven that the industry may have slept on his return. A small sample size, but it is encouraging to see him explosive again.

Dak Injury Woes Yet Again

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the team’s around the league that did not add any significant improvements this offseason. They lost vital starters, such as Amari Cooper, Randy Gregory, and La’el Collins. These losses were apparent in Sunday night’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas struggled to move the ball all night, and now the roster takes another hit. Prescott left the game with a hand injury that will require surgery to repair. He will miss anywhere from four to eight weeks, and Cooper Rush will serve as the starter in the meantime. A must-add in all formats.

Hurts To AJ Brown Equals Magic

One of the big offseason moves occurred on draft night when the Philadelphia Eagles sent a first-round pick for Titans’ wide-receiver Brown. Immediately after, they extended the pro-bowl wide receiver to a massive four-year contract with more than $57 million in guarantees. That move paid off in dividends in Week One as Jalen Hurts connected to AJ Brown ten times for 155 yards. The two had quite the chemistry, albeit at the expense of DeVonta Smith, who had no catches on just four targets. Was this force-feeding the new guy to break him in? Week Two will reveal that answer.

Antonio Gibson’s Large Role

There may not be a player in the NFL that has lost as much value this offseason as Gibson. The drafting of Brian Robinson Jr. was an early concern, along with the Commanders making it a priority to re-sign J.D. McKissic despite Buffalo being seconds away from acquiring the pass-catching running back. Once we got to the preseason, Gibson served on special teams after dealing with some fumbling issues. All signs were pointing down for Gibson. Unfortunately, Robinson was injured in the act of gun violence, and Gibson was again thrust into the starting role. He took full advantage of this opportunity to the tune of 14 carries and seven targets. While Robinson is out, Gibson will be the man it appears.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information and takeaways more than your league mates, you will come out on top. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
