Week Three Takeaways: The Most Crucial In The NFC North

Week Three is in the books for the NFC North! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.

Romeo Doubs WR1

The Green Bay Packers were without Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson in Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. This was the perfect opportunity for rookie Romeo Doubs to break out, and he took full advantage of it. He had a perfect eight catches for 73 yards and a touchdown on his eight targets. The offense was limited in this game, with a final score of 14 to 12. Green Bay has been heavily utilizing the running back tandem of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, but the two struggled to get anything done on the ground. Doubs was there to save the day and help Green Bay secure a pivotal win for potential playoff seeding late in the season.

Dalvin Cook Injury Concerns

Dalvin Cook left Sunday’s NFC North matchup with the Detroit Lions with a shoulder injury. Reports after the game were that Cook dislocated his shoulder. He is supposed to be wearing a shoulder brace but wasn’t wearing it this past Sunday for some reason. In his absence, Alexander Mattison took over all of the rushing work. Cook should be good to go for next week, but aggravating a repeat injury this early in the season has to be concerning. Mattison might be an attractive buy for a contending team looking to add running back depth, but I am sure the price is not low.

D’Andre Swift Injury

On the opposite side of Sunday’s NFC North matchup, we saw D’Andre Swift lose a ton of work to Jamaal Williams. Swift was out-touched seven to 20, and Williams could find the endzone twice. Swift suffered a shoulder injury and could miss some time. Through three weeks, Williams has out-touched Swift 43 to 27 and is getting the high-value touches near the goal line. In half-PPR, they are currently the RB5 and the RB6. Jamaal Williams is a player dynasty managers should try to get a value gauge on because I am sure it will be pretty different from league to league.

Kahlil Herbert Breakout Game

David Montgomery left Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans early with a knee injury. Early reports are it could be an MCL strain, which could potentially cause Montgomery to miss multiple weeks. In his absence, Kahlil Herbert had quite a breakout performance. On 20 touches, he accumulated 157 total yards and found the endzone twice. With the lack of any passing game in Chicago, more can be in store for Herbert next week. He would be an excellent addition to a contending team if you can get it done for a second-round rookie pick.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. Some key fantasy football players call the NFC North home. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
