Week Two Takeaways: The Fundamental In The AFC West

@DanT_NFL is here to cover all the essential takeaways from NFL Week Two. Read on about the AFC West.

Week Two is in the books for the AFC West! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Illusion

Edwards-Helaire has been doing a great job of fooling fantasy managers so far this season. The third-year back has been very productive and currently sits as the RB5 in half PPR formats before the Monday Night Football games. However, despite that fantastic production, Edwards-Helaire is not dominating the snap share as one might expect out of a top-six running back. In Week Two alone, he was out-snapped by Jerick McKinnon after sharing an equal portion of the field time in Week One. He is hitting the high side of variance and is the perfect sell-high candidate.

Gerald Everett TE1 Season

Every year a tight-end emerges from the back of the pack to give us top-end fantasy value. Can Everett be that guy this season? Well, so far, he has been! Before the Monday Night Football double-header starts, Everett sits as the TE4 on the season. This is all coming from a player who had an ADP later than TE12 most of the offseason. This past Thursday night, he ran 34 routes on his 50 snaps in a pivotal AFC West matchup. That is a ratio we love to see out of our tight ends. If anyone in your league doesn’t believe this is sustainable, buy now before it is too late!

Was Russ Wilson The Issue In Seattle?

Let Russ cook. That catchphrase led many to clamor for his departure from Seattle. Now that he has opened his restaurant in Denver, Wilson can’t operate much more than an insta-pot. Last week, we said not to worry about the Denver offense; well, now may be the time to panic. The miscues that we attributed to no pre-season play in Week One have continued, and there aren’t any more excuses. Like Tyler Lockett in Seattle, it seems like Courtland Sutton will be able to produce in this offense, no matter how inept they look.

More Balance In Las Vegas

After Week One, everyone was ready to crown Davante Adams as the king of the wide receivers and grant him a 200-target season. Now that we are post-Week Two, those expectations have shifted. Sunday’s overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals saw a more even distribution of the targets in Las Vegas. Adams had 17 in Week One but was held to seven in Week Two. Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow, and even Mack Hollins benefited from this. Arizona has no lockdown corner, so it is hard to glean a takeaway from this lack of usage. Target share is something to keep a close eye on in Las Vegas.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. The AFC West is home to many key fantasy players. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
