Week Two Takeaways: The Significant In The NFC East

Week 2 is in the books for the NFC East! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study.  No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.

Curtis Samuel Is For Real

Don’t look now, but Curtis Samuel is currently top-fourteen in the league in targets. To pair with that, he is also WR8 on the season in half PPR formats. This Commander’s offense has been in two shootouts so far and unless the defense can put it together, expect that trend to continue further into the season. Samuel has always been extremely athletic and versatile; injuries have just hampered him over the past few years. Expect week-to-week PPR production from Samuel this season, a great depth piece to add to a contending roster for what should be a lower price.

Giants Receiving Room A Mess

The New York Football Giants are undefeated on the season. Usually, victories in the modern-day NFL come with a potent passing attack, but the Giants have many question marks on offense. Specifically in the wide receiver room. Sterling Shepard was the leading target-getter. He had ten targets this past week, converting to only 34 yards. The highest-paid receiver on the team is Kenny Golladay, who was only on the field for two snaps. It is hard to get a read on who the leader of this pack is or if we even want to roster any of them. They have an NFC East matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night football coming up.

Noah Brown Emerges

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver room looks much different than it did 12 months ago. Amari Cooper is off to Cleveland, and Micahel Gallup began the season injured. That leaves CeeDee Lamb and open competition for the second wide-receiver position. It looks like Noah Brown may be the one to fill that role. On Sunday, Brown converted five targets into five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. Brown was a seventh-round pick by the Cowboys in 2017, but Sunday was his first NFL touchdown. Are there more to come for Brown? Well, Gallup should be returning soon, which will cap any upside for Noah for the rest of the year.

Jalen Hurts Top Five Dynasty Quarterback

This may be a hot take to some, but Jalen should be a top-five dynasty quarterback in the NFL. The worry with Hurts was always him being replaced with the overabundance of draft capital the Eagles have stockpiled. However, Hurts has improved as a passer year after year and has the Eagles rolling. Draft capital and resources have been deployed around him to create one of the better rosters in the NFC. Now the question goes from who they replaced him with to how they used the extra draft capital to put more assets around him. If any of your league mates don’t agree with this assessment, you must trade for Hurts now.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. The NFC East is home to many fantasy relevant players. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
