Is the roster you salivated over all summer long underperforming? Can’t get out of your own way when it comes to weekly start-sit decisions? Unfortunately, unlike the Indianapolis Colts, you cannot simply fire your dynasty team’s general manager. Speaking as a New York Jets fan, though, I’d like to thank Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts for your 2027 first-round draft pick.

The twelve-team Dynasty Nerds App league staff experts are not immune to the twists and turns of this unpredictable season. Whether it’s the manager who runs the Discord, edits the articles, cuts the rookie film, or even the guy who founded this company, we’ve all been victims of this fantasy football season’s gut punches. Just like all of you.

The shared joy of fantasy football brings us together, but the shared suffering is one of the best parts of the game. You do not have to be Matthew Berry or have a top-rated dynasty podcast to feel the rush of a last-second win or the absolute pain of being on the opposite side of a Monday night miracle. At the end of the day, we are all sitting on our couches staring at our phones, screaming at our televisions. We groan at the same holding penalities calling back touchdown runs, and we celebrate the same lucky bounces. The equal opportunity chaos is what makes fantasy football so great, and it’s what keeps us all coming back week after week, season after season.

Thanks for choosing Dynasty Nerds to be your go-to site for all things dynasty fantasy football. Now, let’s dive into the rest of this week’s action!

Keith’s Rant of the Week

With respect to any #NerdHerd members overseas, I am officially over Sunday morning international football. I do not care how many fans in London or Berlin or Timbuktu buy tickets or how excited the league office gets about global branding. Kickoffs at 9:30 on a Sunday morning are a complete nightmare for football fans and a total disaster for fantasy lineups.

You know how hard it is to convince my family that after a Saturday full of college football, now there’s a slate of NFL games on television from morning to midnight? There are fall festivals to go to! At least, that’s what my wife and kids tell me. Besides, Sunday morning is my window to go grocery shopping while the olds are at church rather than blocking the aisle chit-chatting with zero spatial awareness. That’s a rant for another time.

Sunday morning is supposed to be peaceful. You wake up, grab coffee, check injury reports, and ease into the slate. Instead, we are scrambling out of bed trying to figure out if a starting receiver woke up with a stiff neck in a hotel across the ocean. On the West Coast, people have to set alarms for 6:00 AM just to check inactive lists. Hungover from a Saturday night out? Don’t sleep it off, because you might wake up with a zero locked into your lineup.

Then there is the actual game product. Half the roster looks jet-lagged, the grass at Wembley looks like an ice rink, and players spend four quarters falling all over themselves on the field. Penalties? These games have more yellow than the Vatican City flag.

Fantasy football has enough craziness on a normal Sunday. We do not need early morning kickoff surprises wrecking our lineups before the afternoon games even start. Leave the games in their normal time slots and stop forcing us to manage fantasy rosters in our sleep.

And don’t even get me started on the lunacy of putting Jalen Hurts on an airplane, blood clots and all. I’m not a doctor. Everything I’ve read about the situation sounds rough. Get well soon, brother. We’ll miss seeing your tush being pushed.

DNA Trade Audit

With the news of the Jalen Hurts injury, Mychal Warno’s 8th place squad fell further out of contention in the Dynasty Nerds App League. Running on fumes with Geno Smith and DeShaun Watson left at quarterback, Mychal made it known that he was shifting into fire sale mode. Bring out your trades!

Mychal Warno sends Brenton Strange and a 2027 4th to Doc Mitchell for Terrance Ferguson and a 2027 5th

  • This is a classic swap of young project tight ends with a minor draft pick reshuffle attached. Mychal takes a shot on Terrance Ferguson’s long-term upside in Los Angeles, while Doc acquires Brenton Strange and moves up a round in the 2027 rookie draft. Neither player is moving the needle in starting lineups today, so this comes down to which coaching staff you trust more to develop a secondary target.

Mychal Warno sends Christian McCaffrey to Peter Monahan for Nicholas Singleton and a 2027 1st

  • The rich get richer. Mychal officially pulls the plug on the Christian McCaffrey era to jumpstart his rebuild. He sends the aging superstar to first-place Peter in exchange for rookie running back Nicholas Singleton and a 2027 first round pick. Peter is making an all-in play for a championship right now by locking in McCaffrey’s heavy weekly workload. Can’t say I blame him!

Mychal Warno sends DeVaughn Vele to Peter Monahan for Cole Payton and a 2027 4th

  • Tanner McKee, we barely knew thee, maybe? A low stakes trade hoping to strike gold in Philly. As we all know, the most popular player on the Eagles’ roster at all times is the backup quarterback. Looking at you, Jeff Garcia. Is A.J. Feeley available these days?

Mychal Warno sends Mike Evans to Garret Price for a 2028 2nd

  • This trade happened during the Monday Night Football game between the Commanders and the Niners, moments before the Mike Evans injury. Hard to evaluate this one without knowing the extent of the injury. The fantasy football gods are fickle, taking away Jalen Hurts only to reward Mychal with the lucky timing of a 2nd round rookie pick.

Matt O’Hara sends DeVonta Smith and Rhamondre Stevenson to Steve Pintado for Alec Pierce, TreVeyon Henderson, and a 2027 3rd

  • In our only non-Mychal trade, Matt, stuck at the bottom of the standings, started making some moves to secure flexibility for future roster rebuilding. Steven gets depth for a championship run while Matt receives young running back TreVeyon Henderson, the injured Alec Pierce, and a 2027 third round pick. Henderson is the biggest question mark here. Can he turn it around in New England? The clock is ticking.

The Cellar Dwellars

We recently looked at the contending teams. Now it’s time to look at the bottom of the standings. Who is in danger of ridicule in the staff Discord chat? More importantly, who could be up for elimination at the end of the season?

Doc Mitchell (0-12)

QB: Jaxson Dart, Baker Mayfield, Ty Simpson
RB: Tyler Allgeier, Kaelon Black, Jaleel McLaughlin, Roschon Johnson
WR: Denzel Boston, De’Zhaun Stribling, Ja’Kobi Lane, Wan’Dale Robinson
TE: Brenton Strange, Eli Stowers, Gunnar Helm
Picks: 2027 Round 2, 3 x 2027 Round 3, 3 x 2028 Round 1, 3 x 2028 Round 2

Although he doesn’t have possession of his own 2027 first round draft pick, our defending champion is winless by design. We detailed Doc’s process in our recent article. He’s safe from elimination and aiming to make a comeback with multiple first and second round rookie picks in 2028. He has also strategically targeted players like Jaxson Dart and Ty Simpson in the hopes that they’ll score in future seasons.

Matt O’Hara (1-11)

QB: Caleb Williams, Kyler Murray, Jameis Winston, Shedeur Sanders
RB: TreVeyon Henderson, Braelon Allen, Jordan Mason, Jonathon Brooks, Rachaad White
WR: Justin Jefferson, Rashee Rice, Terry McLaurin, Alec Pierce, Caleb Douglas, Jayden Reed
TE: Tucker Kraft, Kenyon Sadiq
Picks: 2027 Round 1, 2027 Round 2

Don’t judge Matt too harshly on this roster or his record. He joined this league in January, replacing an eliminated manager. With notable young pieces like Caleb Williams and Tucker Kraft to build around, it’s a matter of whether Matt will have the chance to rebuild another season, or will he simply be a one-and-done?

Jon Glosser (4-8)

QB: Drake Maye, Patrick Mahomes, Daniel Jones
RB: Breece Hall, Aaron Jones, Jaylen Wright, Tank Bigsby, Kaleb Johnson
WR: Luther Burden, Jordyn Tyson, DK Metcalf, Xavier Worthy, Jaylin Noel
TE: Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid, Oronde Gadsden
Picks: 2027 Round 1, 2027 Round 2

Jon is the master of IDP, but I don’t see any defensive players on the rosters in the Dynasty Nerds App league. This roster feels like a classic middle-of-the-pack squad. It has too many decent players to be terrible, but it doesn’t have enough depth to make a push for a title. The danger for Jon is that selling assets for next year in this league can be dangerous! Hopefully a return of a healthy Breece Hall and Jordyn Tyson will provide a spark for his chances.

Taylor Christianson (4-8)

QB: Lamar Jackson, C.J. Stroud, Kirk Cousins, Jalon Daniels
RB: Jeremiyah Love, Chuba Hubbard, Jadarian Price, Jonah Coleman, Tony Pollard
WR: Tee Higgins, Makai Lemon, DJ Moore, Antonio Williams, Malachi Fields
TE: Tyler Warren, George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson
Picks: 3 x 2027 Round 1, 3 x Round 2, 2027

Finally, we have Taylor’s team. After an unlucky start to last season, Taylor was the first to hold an all-out fire sale and became the most active manager, firing trade offer after trade offer. Look at this squad now. Taylor has done a great job turning things around and has six premium rookie picks in the 2027 rookie draft, including the almost guaranteed 2027 1.01. This could be a quick turnaround for our site’s editor-in-chief.

What the Buckeye? The Absurd Pre-Draft Value of Jeremiah Smith

NFL Week 7 Rants, Recap, and Preview | Dynasty Nerds App League
Are you curious where we see CFB wunderkin Jeremiah Smiths value in relative dynasty terms Look no further than the poll above taken during Monday nights game in our league chat

The only staff member who voted for Puka Nacua was Peter Monahan, one of the top contenders in our league. Here’s what he had to say:

I dont entirely disagree For a contending team like Peters Id probably side with Puka too

As for the rest of us? Wheels up for Generational Jeremiah! Here’s what Taylor had to say:

NFL Week 7 Rants, Recap, and Preview | Dynasty Nerds App League

For the record, I have it as Jaxon Smith-Njgba followed by Jeremiah Smith.

Yes, ahead of Ja’marr Chase.

Think we’re all crazy? Where do you have Jeremiah Smith? What’s the value difference going to be between 1.01 and some of the elite veteran NFL players? What about the value difference between 1.01 and 1.02? In both existing leagues and in startup drafts, these are questions dynasty managers should be asking themselves now leading into rookie season.

This hype isn’t unheard of. Experienced dynasty players were there when a rookie running back named Saquon Barkley was being taken first overall in startup drafts.

Week 7 Preview

Set your lineups early this week, loyal readers. It’s rough out there. Some of the names we’re forcing into lineups? Yikes. To make matters more difficult, we start 12 players each in the Dynasty Nerds App League, and I feel as if I can barely field a lineup this week, let alone a good one!

Fresh off of brutal loss in Week 6, Rich gets pitted against Taylor this week. Will this be a get right game for Rich, or can Taylor pull off the upset? Rich is going to have to find a replacement in his lineup for Quinshon Judkins, and with Saquon Barkley still injured, the remaining options aren’t pretty.

Even Garret Price, alone at the top of the standings, has question marks. Garret loses Davante Adams, and he might have taken A.J. Brown’s hands with him. What about Cam Skattebo? Can Garret safely start him? Don’t start calling 1-800-FLOWERS for Mr. Price, though. He has Jahmyr Gibbs returning from a bye week and at least some depth he can call upon in a matchup against Matt O’Hara. At 1-11, let’s just say Matt’s roster is… not as strong.

As for me, between bye weeks and injuries, I’m rolling the dice and hoping for the best. The hits keep coming, because unfortunately, I am matched up against Peter, fresh off of acquiring Christian McCaffrey. I’m not exactly throwing the Avengers out there this week against the Thanos that is Peter’s roster. Jake Ferguson might play for America’s Team, but he sure isn’t Captain America. I never thought I’d be sad to see Keon Coleman on a bye.

Until next time, thanks for reading and following along with the Dynasty Nerds App League!
