Week One has come and gone. We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire week of NFL football to study. The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways!
Justin Jefferson Is King
Jefferson is the top non-quarterback asset in dynasty right now. Full stop; nothing more needs to be said. He has officially entered the realm of untradeable, and if you are even considering making an offer, it better include half of your roster. Jefferson completed a casual stat line of nine receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He was the highest-scoring fantasy player on the week in some scoring formats, even if you include quarterbacks. Kevin O’Connell has this offensive humming, and MVP chants were already filling the stands of U.S. Bank Stadium. Be very thankful if you have this man on your rosters.
Waiting For Someone To Emerge In Green Bay
One of the first plays of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings was a beautiful deep throw that landed perfectly in Christian Watson’s hands, who then proceeded to drop it. We are still waiting for a top target to emerge in Green Bay, and we may be waiting for a while. Not a single wide receiver could break 40 yards, and most of the top pass-catching options were running backs or tight ends. We may be in for a rough year if we have Aaron Rodgers on our fantasy squads, but he has proven us wrong on that one before.
Justin Fields Breath Of Life
The stat line for Fields does not look great. He attempted just 17 passes and completed eight of them. However, for those who have not seen the game, Chicago was underwater Sunday afternoon with most of the field flooded. Fields added some yards on the ground to save his fantasy day, but the more significant takeaway here is that the Chicago Bears were able to pull out a victory. Fields will be fighting for his life all season to prevent Chicago from getting a top-five pick. Neither the coaching staff nor the front office is tied to him, and they may be fast to move on from the second-year player if the appropriate draft capital is acquired.
D’Andre Swift RB1 Season
D’Andre Swift was a favorite of many in the 2020 class. Some even had him as the top running back during the pre-draft process. Then came the dreaded Detroit landing spot, and many forgot how elite of a talent he was. Sunday, we saw that talent on full display. Against what is supposed to be an excellent Philadelphia defense, Swift could handle 15 carries to the tune of 144 yards and even added three receptions. This game was a fantastic start to the season for Swift on a significantly improved Detroit Lions roster. If there is any opportunity to acquire him, it must be done as soon as possible.
Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information and takeaways more than your league mates, you will come out on top.
