Welcome to the Week 5 NFL CheatChart. In this article, I provide an easy-to-use positional match ups table and highlight potentially exploitable Week 5 fantasy football match ups. Use this for fantasy football start/sit decisions, to make DFS lineups, and place the best player prop bets.
If youβre curious about the process you can find a full introduction HERE where I lay out the NFL CheatChart methodology.
Using the Week 5 Dynasty Nerds CheatChart Matchups
First, find YOUR PLAYER’S TEAM in the first column. Next, follow that line to THEIR POSITION’S column. That percentage is how much better or worse you can expect them to do compared to what they typically score.

Example: Let’s say youβre deciding between Denzel Boston (WR-CLE) and RJ Harvey (RB-DEN). For Boston, find CLE in the first column. Follow that row over to the WR column, and you’ll see his positional matchup is -22%. That’s a very negative matchup. Next, for Harvey, find DEN in the first column. Follow that row over to the RB column, and you’ll see his positional matchup is 13%, which is a moderately positive matchup. Given both players are averaging around 13 points per game, the Dynasty Nerds CheatChart would lean Harvey.

Best Week 5 Fantasy Football Matchups to Target
Bearly Hanging On
For at least one more week the Bears will be trotting out a backup QB, and will remain with Tyson Bagent again the eternal rivals, the Green Bay Packers. In Week 4 he only scored 8.8 fantasy points, but that was against the Jets who have been a terrible source of points for opposing QBs. Bagent has typically been quick to get the ball out but lacks the arm strength for big throws down field, but this year he’s had more deep passes than previously. He should be starting in any 2QB league at this point. Going up against the Packers is a far better situation, as their defense which has already struggled continues to lose key players. We can only hope that Bagent is able to trounce them as a tribute to the late, great Mike Ditka.
Saved by Wilson
This is probably the easiest recommendation to make this week considering his performance in Week 4, but Emanuel Wilson is a must start. The Seahawks backfield is murky with injuries, but as of right now he’s the lead back and will likely get a bellcow role in what should be a very solid 23% matchup.
Fly Eagle Fly
Dontayvion Wicks may seem like a risky play after he’s given back-to-back performances of under 6 points, but that was against two very difficult opponents. In Week 5 he gets the Jaguars who have been a fantastic matchup for wide receivers. On top of that the Eagles are expected to trail, I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes Wicks’ most targeted game of the year. He’s worth a flex play this week.
Jet Taking Flight
Check your home league/redraft league waivers for Kenyon Sadiq, or even consider pulling him off taxi if you’re struggling at TE right now. He served up a goose egg in Week 4 against the Bears but was still targeted in that game. He’s had a rough go of matchups so far this year, with the only good one being Detroit and he put up over 20 points in that game. Now Sadiq get he Browns who seem to be the “automatic start your tight end” team this year. He should be in starting rosters in pretty much every league for Week 5.
Week 5 Fantasy Football Matchups to Avoid
A No for Bo
Bo Nix has had an inconsistent start to the year. He’s averaged only 13.6 points per game so far, and even if we remove Week 1 where he left the game early, it only jumps to about 18 points, which is reasonable enough. We aren’t seeing him rushing and the offense has been stalling out, but it was announced this week that play-calling duties are going to be shifting. That could be good for Nix depending on what those changes are, but for now consider him a low-end QB1 until proven otherwise.
Which Saint Goes Marching In
Chances are Kendre Miller has been snatched up in just about every league out there due to Travis Etienne being placed on IR. Last week we saw that the Saints were fully comfortable giving a bellcow workload to 32-year-old Alvin Kamara, but he is now questionable with a back injury. That leaves Kendre Miller and CJ Donaldson as the next guys up. Which one gets the lion’s share of the work is anyone’s guess, but Miller has been unable to cement a substantial role in his previous 3 season with the Saints despite them dealing with similar situations.
Temper Take-off Expectations
If you are being tempted to move KC Concepcion from your taxi squad you may want to put it off. He’s been getting a bunch of looks which is a good sign, but he’s not a must-start yet. He gets a rough -22% matchup against the Jets this week though. Chances are he’s still an “okay” flex. This game has a low over/under and he hasn’t seen a touchdown yet this year meaning he’s lacking the upside I typically like to see with flex players in this range.
Don’t Gamble on the Raiders
If you have to start Michael Mayer this week, I get it. It’s hard to pass on a tight end who’s getting the kind of volume he just saw against the Chiefs, but this week he gets the Patriots who have been a horrid -55% matchup. Chances are you’ll be praying for a touchdown if you do have to start him.
Week 5 IDP Fantasy Football Match ups

Week 5 IDP Targets | Streamers, Sleepers, and Stashes
The top streaming target for streaming DBs will be the Broncos’ players. They are expected to lead, meaning there should be more opportunities for big gains with interceptions. Riley Moss and Patrick Surtain are both out, so lower ownership guys like Talanoa Hufanga and Brandon Jones could be sneaky plays.

Final Word | Week 5 NFL CheatChart
Thanks again for tuning in and making it all the way to the bottom. Next week should see us reach our top predictability and we should stay there for the remainder of the season. We’ll see some of those single-starter positions like kicker and DST start to become a little less erratic as we continue on as well, though they’ll always be more varied due to the nature of being such a low-scoring position compared to an entire corps of wide receivers for example. Best of luck out there in Week 5!
