We’re back for Week 7 Risers & Fallers with the weekly stock up and stock down of dynasty value. As we all know, you should never overreact to just one week for dynasty fantasy football—it’s a game of patience. Week 7 was a fun National Tight End Day. This week featured some massive performances from guys like Tony Pollard and Trey McBride, but also duds from guys like Sam LaPorta and A.J. Brown. Let’s dive into the performances that had the biggest impact on dynasty value.

3 Players Stock Up

KC Concepcion Jr. | WR | Cleveland Browns | Age: 22.1

KC Concepcion Jr. had his best game of his NFL career so far with 8 catches for 129 yards. To this point, he had been overshadowed by fellow rookie Denzel Boston, but Concepcion reminded everyone why he was drafted first. Nobody on Tennessee could cover Concepcion; he was open all game.

Moving forward, Concepcion is a priority buy for me on rebuilding teams. His price is certainly rising, but as Rich Dotson likes to say, “An overpay today may be an underpay tomorrow.” I think the whole Browns offense is  going to be an improved unit a year from now. They have so many talented weapons, but an improved offensive line and signal caller could turn this offense into a force. Concepcion has such a bright future ahead of him.

Malachi Fields | WR | New York Giants | Age: 23.1

Malachi Fields is starting to establish himself as the guy on the opposite side of Malik Nabers. This team has been begging for a WR2 since letting Wan’Dale Robinson walk in free agency. Last week, Fields had opportunity, receiving 8 targets on a 94% snap count, but he only produced 2 catches for 19 yards.

In Week 7, Fields produced his best game of the season. He had 4 catches for 83 yards. He’s a big bodied receiver who provides a different archetype than Nabers for this receiver room. Obviously, he will need to develop chemistry with Jaxson Dart once he returns next season, but Fields has an excellent opportunity to lock up this WR2 job longterm.

Michael Penix Jr. | QB | Atlanta Falcons | Age: 26.4

It’s rare that starting quarterbacks are as cheap in SuperFlex as Michael Penix Jr. was this offseason. Penix obviously was returning from an ACL tear and was facing a postion battle against Tua Tagavailoa. Penix faced the adversity head on. Once he got fully healthy, his job was waiting for him.

I was extremely impressed with Penix’s game against the 49ers in Week 7. He took care of the football and made really smart decisions against one of the best defenses in the league. He threw for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns, while never turning the ball over. This marks back to back 20 point performances for Penix. If he keeps playing clean football, Penix’s stock will rise.

3 Players Stock Down

Jalen Coker | WR | Carolina Panthers | Age: 25.0

Jalen Coker’s value has inflated to around dynasty WR24, and it has gotten out of hand. As proven in Week 7, Coker is not someone who can get consistent weekly production. He only had 1 catch for 9 yards, which is the type of performance that can lose you a matchup. This offense simply isn’t explosive enough to support 2 top 30 wide receivers.

Coker is a talented player with crisp routes and great ball skills. This selection really has nothing to do with him as a player—more of his placement in this particular offense. When watching the Panthers, they feel like one of the most conservative teams in the NFL. Their identity is run-first, and it still seems like they are compensating for Bryce Young at times. Coker’s hot start inflated his value, but it’s going to come down to earth—closer to WR40.

Kenyon Sadiq | TE | New York Jets | Age: 21.6

Kenyon Sadiq value is carried by “potential” and draft capital, but I don’t see a path for him to be a fantasy contributor. In Week 7, he put up 1 catch on 1 target for 6 yards. He was completely overshadowed by the other Jets tight end, Mason Taylor, who racked up 5 catches for 62 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a 2 point conversion.

Obviously, Sadiq still has a long career ahead of him. The Jets future franchise QB could have a great connection with Sadiq for a long time, but his value is built on “coulds” and “mights”. I think Sadiq’s value could fall into a range where he becomes an attractive buy for a rebuilding team. Ultimately, this team is loaded with weapons, and Sadiq is at the bottom. It’s gonna take time or circumstances to make Sadiq into a fantasy starter.

Nico Collins | WR | Houston Texans | Age: 27.6

Nico Collins was a consensus Top-12 dynasty WR entering the season, but we’re starting to see that trend downwards. Collins was an after thought in his Week 7 game, with 2 catches for 6 yards. This dud marks back to back games with 5 targets. Collins is the type of player who demands 8-10 targets a game at bare minimum.

It seems that defenses are heavily game planning around stopping Collins. While smart, consistent double teams and safety help hurts Collins’ value. We’re seeing players like Xavier Hutchinson, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Jaylin Noel profit from Collins’ tight coverage. The Texans need to find a way to get the ball in Collins’ hands more often and game plan him open whenever possible.
