Here at DynastyNerds, we got you covered! We are less than a week away from the Hall Of Fame game and have a week of NFL training camps in the books. This can be a tough week for dynasty managers as we go from no news to overstimulation of practice videos, injuries, and beat reporter speculations. Let’s sift through the information and highlight top need-to-know nuggets from the past week. Here are some of the top pieces of NFL training camp news.
Patriots Running Back Battle
Rhamondre Stevenson has reported to camp slimed down and looking better than ever. The second-year back out of Oklahoma has been reportedly running with the first team offense all week. Could this relegate Damien Harris to a backup role? A battle to keep an eye on as we get deeper into training camp and pre-season. The New England backfield has always been murky, and staying away may be the best bet.
Broncos Wide Receiver Battle
This week, many glowing reports have emerged about Jerry Jeudy, the third-year wide receiver from Alabama. The Broncos spent a vast sum acquiring Pro-Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson and have many weapons for the offense. It is unclear who will emerge as the favorite target between Jeudy and teammate Courtland Sutton. Sutton has been quiet so far this training camp week.
Josh Allen’s New Cole Beasley
The Buffalo Bills have a loaded offense and will be looking to finish top three in the league in scoring for a third straight season. Slot receiver Cole Beasley left this offseason, and now the Bills are trying to fill that hole. Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis will have the outside locked down. This leaves Isaiah McKenzie, Jamison Crowder, and rookie Kahlil Shakir to battle it out for the slot role. Reports from training camp have McKenzie leading the charge for the job.
A New Number One In Baltimore
By trading Marquise Brown this past offseason, the Baltimore Ravens front office displayed just how much confidence they have in second-year wide receiver Rashod Bateman. Bateman was limited as a rookie, playing in just nine games. However, when on the field, he looked outstanding. He should be primed for a breakout year with an entire healthy offseason under his belt. Reports like these will only help fuel the hype train as we get closer to week one.
Chiefs Wide Receiver Battle
Another AFC team that recently traded their top receiver is the Kansas City Chiefs. They open training camp with a wide-open battle for the head guy there. The hype this spring was for rookie Skyy Moore, OTAs were all about Marquez Valdez-Scantling, and now we are getting JuJu news. The takeaway is to acquire the cheapest option if there is any dip in value because no one has a good read on how this will play out.
Donovan Peoples-Jones Breakout Year
There is a hype about third-year wide-receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones coming out of Browns training camp. The Michigan alum is a great athlete who can provide an excellent downfield option for Deshaun Watson. The connection could be similar to the link Watson, and Will Fuller previously had in Houston. How much of Watson do we see on the field this year? That question remains to be answered.
New England’s Number One Wide Receiver
N’Keal Harry, the whiff of a first-round pick in 2019, is gone, and New England is in search of an X-receiver once again. DeVante Parker, another former first-rounder that people have labeled as a bust, was brought in to fill that void. New England only used a 5th-round/3rd-round pick swap to acquire Parker, so there isn’t much investment. So far, that light investment is paying off in training camp. A player with a muddy history may be a cheap grab for dynasty managers before the season begins.
Steelers Murky Quarterback Battle
There have been conflicting reports from Steelers training camp surrounding the quarterback room. It should be no surprise that Rudolph looks the best as he has been in the system for four seasons. Trubisky is learning his third offense in many years, and Pickett is a rookie. Expect this order to begin flipping the further we get into training camp. Managers can use this window to add Trubisky for cheap as an excellent third quarterback option on their dynasty squads.
