Joe Burrow gets a terrific matchup against a struggling Falcons secondary that has allowed at least 280 passing yards in 5 of its last 7 games.
Brock Purdy returns from his bye week, hopefully with some of his weapons back, and draws a favorable matchup against a Raiders defense that has struggled, allowing at least 2 passing touchdowns in 6 consecutive games.

Jared Goff should offer an elite fantasy floor against the Dolphins, who have allowed at least 2 passing touchdowns in 6 of their 7 games this season.
Drake Maye is on the bust radar this week, as the Packers have allowed the 5th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks but the 3rd-most fantasy points per dropback in the league.

It could simply be situational, but the Colts have not allowed a quarterback to throw for over 240 passing yards since Week 1, which could limit Dak Prescott‘s fantasy upside this week.
Patrick Mahomes faces a weak Jets defense that has allowed opposing quarterbacks to score at least 3 total touchdowns in 3 consecutive games.
The Buccaneers’ defense has been fierce as of late, but they run the 3rd-highest rate of zone coverage in the league, and Caleb Williams ranks 8th in quarterback rating against zone coverage. Last week, Williams faced a defense that played a high rate of zone coverage and was able to produce against it.
Despite going on the road in Week 9, Jordan Love faces a Patriots defense that runs the 3rd-highest rate of man coverage in the league, a coverage scheme he has performed well against this season. Plus, Love has thrown at least 2 passing touchdowns in every road game this year.
Tier 4 | Volatile QB2 Starters

Malik Willis offers some sleeper appeal in Superflex leagues, as the Lions have allowed every opposing quarterback to throw at least 2 passing touchdowns this season.
C.J. Stroud, who was playing great football before the Texans’ bye week, could be in for a trap game against a Chargers defense that has not allowed a QB1 performance in 3 consecutive games.
This should be a favorable matchup for Kyler Murray if he can get things going, as the Bills have allowed quarterbacks to throw for at least 260 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in 5 of their 7 games this season.
Michael Penix Jr. should look to bounce back against a Bengals defense that plays the 2nd-highest rate of man coverage in the league. Penix ranks 3rd in quarterback rating against man coverage, making this an excellent opportunity for him to get back on track.

Tyler Shough was struggling before the bye week and now faces a Browns defense that has not allowed a quarterback to throw for over 200 passing yards in 4 consecutive games.
Deshaun Watson is currently in concussion protocol and is trending toward missing Week 9.
Could we see Bryce Young bounce back this week? The Broncos have allowed at least 270 passing yards in 3 consecutive games, giving Young an opportunity to get back on track.
Drew Lock is expected to start in place of the injured Sam Darnold and faces a Cardinals defense that allows the 2nd-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and the most fantasy points per dropback in the league. Lock offers significant upside in Superflex leagues this week.

If Shedeur Sanders gets the start, he could be in for a tough matchup, as the Saints have not allowed an opposing quarterback to throw for more than 1 passing touchdown in a game this season.
Gardner Minshew will have to work some magic if he hopes to produce in Week 9, as the Seahawks have allowed the 2nd-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.
Could we see a better outing from Daniel Jones this week? He faces a Cowboys defense that allows the 5th-highest CPOE in the league, which could give him more opportunities to connect with his pass catchers and improve his passing production.

Jahmyr Gibbbs should dominat ethe Dolphins who ahave allwoed an 80 yard rusher in 3 of the last 4 games.
Christian McCaffrey is banged up so watch his status but he has a sure touchdonw play as the Riaders have alloweda rushing touchdonw in 5 straigth games.
Expect some bounce back from Bijan Robinson in Madrid as the Bengals have allwoed a rushe rover 70 yards in 4 of the last 5 games.

The Vikings may look like a tough matchup on paper, but their run defense has struggled recently, allowing a running back to rush for at least 95 yards and a touchdown in 3 of their last 4 games. Fire up James Cook this week.
Kyren Williams could have a tougher matchup than many expect, as the Commanders allow the 3rd-fewest yards before contact per attempt (YBCO/Att) in the league. This suggests their run defense has done an excellent job of preventing offensive lines from creating running lanes, which could limit Williams’ rushing efficiency this week.
Chuba Hubbard draws a solid matchup and should have an opportunity to produce on the ground, as the Broncos have allowed the most missed tackles forced and yards after contact in the league. This could create plenty of opportunities for Hubbard to pick up additional yardage after contact.

Keep an eye on Bhayshul Tuten‘s injury status ahead of Thursday Night Football, as he is dealing with an injury. However, the matchup is favorable, with the Ravens allowing a rushing touchdown in 5 of their last 6 games.
Rhamondre Stevenson should have a solid chance to find the end zone at home this week, as the Packers have allowed a touchdown to a running back in 7 of their 8 games this season.
Bucky Irving should continue his strong production against a Bears defense that has allowed the 5th-most yards before contact per attempt (YBCO/Att) in the league. Irving ranks inside the top 12 in YBCO/Att and has also shown the ability to generate additional yards after contact, making this an excellent matchup for him.
Jonathan Taylor is ranked a bit lower than usual this week due to the ongoing trade rumors surrounding him. However, the matchup is extremely favorable, as the Cowboys allow the 5th-highest explosive run rate and the 2nd-most yards before contact per attempt (YBCO/Att) in the league.

Quinshon Judkins could see a heavy workload in a favorable matchup, especially if Shedeur Sanders gets the start at quarterback. The Saints have allowed a rushing touchdown in every game this season, giving Judkins a strong opportunity to find the end zone.
Derrick Henry will put Jacksonville’s run defense to the test, as the Jaguars have allowed just 1 running back to rush for over 50 yards this season.
Ollie Gordon could be a touchdown-or-bust option this week against a Lions defense that has held opposing running backs under 40 rushing yards in 4 of its last 5 games.
Saquon Barkley has rushed for over 150 yards in 2 of his 3 career games against his former team, the Giants, giving him an opportunity for another big performance this week.

Despite seeing less work on the ground, Ashton Jeanty draws a favorable matchup against a 49ers defense that has allowed at least 40 receiving yards to a running back in 3 of its last 4 games.
Woody Marks could offer some upside this week against a Chargers defense that has allowed a running back to rush for at least 65 yards and a touchdown in 5 consecutive games.
Braelon Allen and Breece Hall should both be viewed as high-risk, high-reward options this week, but I would still lean toward Allen as the better fantasy play. The Chiefs allow the fewest yards before contact per attempt (YBCO/Att) in the league, making this a difficult matchup for both running backs. However, Allen has been more effective than Hall at generating yards before contact this season, giving him a slight edge heading into Week 9.
Aaron Jones could be heavily involved in the receiving game this week, and the matchup is favorable, as the Bills have allowed at least 20 receiving yards to a running back in 4 consecutive games.
Cam Skattebo is another running back to monitor on the injury report this week. If he’s healthy enough to play, he could take advantage of an Eagles defense that allows the 4th-most missed tackles forced in the league.

Either Jadarian Price or Zach Charbonnet could be worth gambling on this week, as their opponent has allowed a running back to rush for over 50 yards in 7 consecutive games.
Kendre Miller, in particular, and Alvin Kamara both draw favorable matchups against a Cardinals defense that has allowed a running back to produce at least 100 total yards and a touchdown in 3 of its last 4 games.
While Mike Washington Jr. saw over 20 carries last week, even a similar workload could lead to another disappointing performance against the 49ers. San Francisco ranks 1st in limiting explosive runs and 2nd in limiting yards after contact, making this a difficult matchup for Washington to find success on the ground.

Jordan Mason is another low-end, touchdown-or-bust running back this week. While the Bills have allowed opposing running backs to rush for over 40 yards, they have also surrendered a rushing touchdown in 4 consecutive games, giving Mason some touchdown upside.
Depending on Christian McCaffrey‘s injury status, Kaelon Black could emerge as a deep sleeper this week against a Raiders defense that has allowed a running back to rush for at least 95 yards in 4 games this season.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. would move into that Tier 5 range if Bhayshul Tuten were to miss Week 9.
If Cam Skattebo misses Week 9, Devin Singletary could see an expanded role and become an intriguing FLEX option. However, if Skattebo plays, it will be difficult to trust Singletary, especially with his receiving role potentially limited against an Eagles defense that allows the 4th-fewest targets to running backs.

Ty Johnson is always a dart-throw option in PPR leagues, as he has produced over 50 total yards in 2 of his 5 games this season.
If TreVeyon Henderson misses Week 9, Corey Kiner could emerge as a deep-league option. However, the matchup presents some challenges. The Patriots run the 2nd-highest rate of man/gap rushing schemes in the league, and Kiner has posted just an average success rate on those runs. The Packers also allow the fewest yards per carry against man/gap rushing schemes, making this a difficult matchup for Kiner to find success on the ground.
J.K. Dobbins could potentially be ranked higher on this list, but the emergence of Jonah Coleman has created some uncertainty in Denver’s backfield. Dobbins remains an intriguing option, as the Panthers allow the 2nd-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. However, if Coleman continues to take over the backfield, Dobbins could struggle to see enough opportunities to capitalize on this favorable matchup.
Joe Fagnano targeted Justice Hill on 33% of his pass attempts last week, suggesting Hill could have a significant role in the passing game. If that usage continues in Week 9, Hill could offer some sneaky PPR value, especially in deeper leagues.

CeeDee Lamb should have a solid game this week, but the Colts have allowed just 2 receivers to surpass 65 receiving yards since Week 2, which could limit his overall upside.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has recorded at least 70 receiving yards in 5 consecutive games and will look to continue that streak against the Cardinals in Week 9.

The Dolphins have allowed a receiver to produce at least 70 receiving yards in 3 consecutive games, which could provide Amon-Ra St. Brown with an excellent opportunity to bounce back this week.
Coming off a bye week, Malik Nabers draws a favorable matchup against an Eagles defense that has allowed a receiver to produce at least 80 receiving yards in 4 of its last 5 games.
Keep an eye on Mike Evans‘ injury status heading into Week 9. If he’s healthy enough to play, he could take advantage of a Raiders defense that has allowed a wide receiver to score a touchdown in 5 consecutive games.
Chris Olave will look to bounce back after a few quiet weeks, but the matchup could be challenging, as the Browns have not allowed a wide receiver to score a touchdown in 3 consecutive games.

Christian Watson could draw coverage from Christian Gonzalez in this matchup, but the Patriots still allow the 3rd-most fantasy points to outside receivers, giving Watson an opportunity to produce despite the potential tough individual matchup.
The Buccaneers run the 3rd-highest rate of zone coverage in the league, which should benefit Luther Burden, who has seen better opportunities and production against zone defenses this season. Tampa Bay also allows the 2nd-most yards after the catch, giving Burden additional upside in this favorable matchup.
Justin Jefferson will look to bounce back this week against a Bills defense that allows the 5th-most fantasy points to outside receivers, giving him an excellent opportunity to return to form.
DeVonta Smith would be ranked in this tier if he were healthy enough to play, but his injury status appears to be trending in the wrong direction heading into Week 9.
Rashee Rice could have a lower fantasy ceiling this week against a Jets defense that runs the 5th-highest rate of man coverage in the league. Rice has seen fewer opportunities and produced less efficiently against man coverage this season, which could limit his overall fantasy production.

Ladd McConkey should continue his strong play in Week 9, as the Texans have allowed an opposing WR1 to produce over 60 receiving yards in 4 of their last 5 games.
Zay Flowers should remain a decent fantasy start despite playing with a rookie quarterback, as the Jaguars allow the 4th-most first downs per route run (1D/RR) in the league. Baltimore could look to get the ball out quickly to Flowers, who has posted a strong 1D/RR this season, giving him an opportunity to remain productive despite the quarterback uncertainty.
The Panthers’ receivers could face a difficult matchup this week. Tetairoa McMillan will likely draw coverage from Patrick Surtain II, while Jalen Coker could struggle to generate additional yardage after the catch against a Broncos defense that allows the 3rd-fewest yards after the catch in the league.

Keenan Allen should offer solid FLEX value against a Cowboys defense that has allowed a receiver to produce at least 60 receiving yards and a touchdown in 3 consecutive games.
A.J. Brown and Deebo Samuel are both questionable for Week 9, and it wouldn’t be surprising if either player misses another game.
Denzel Boston should be the Browns receiver you want to start this week, as Cleveland faces a defense that runs the highest rate of man coverage in the league. Boston tends to see more target opportunities against man coverage than any other Browns receiver, giving him an edge in this matchup.
Don’t expect many big gains from Jaylen Waddle beyond his receptions this week, as the Panthers allow the 4th-fewest yards after the catch in the league, potentially limiting his overall receiving upside.
Despite a tough matchup against the Vikings, DJ Moore could see plenty of opportunities this week. Moore tends to command more targets against zone coverage, and Minnesota runs the 2nd-highest rate of zone coverage in the league, making this a favorable matchup for his target volume.

Keep an eye on Emeka Egbuka‘s injury status this week, as he tends to see an increase in target opportunities against man coverage. The Bears run the 6th-highest rate of man coverage in the league, making this a favorable matchup for Egbuka if he’s healthy enough to play.
Malik Washington is an intriguing sleeper option this week against a Lions defense that allows the 2nd-most fantasy points to slot receivers.
Ryan Flournoy has seen an uptick in production recently and draws a favorable matchup against a Colts defense that allows the 4th-most fantasy points to slot receivers.
Jakobi Meyers could be an interesting Thursday Night Football play, as the Ravens have allowed an outside receiver to produce at least 60 receiving yards in every game this season.
Adonai Mitchell was excellent last week, but he faces a difficult matchup against a Chiefs defense that allows the fewest fantasy points to outside receivers.
Don’t expect Khalil Shakir to provide his usual safe fantasy floor this week, as the Vikings allow the 2nd-fewest fantasy points to slot receivers, potentially limiting his production.
Josh Downs could have another opportunity to put together a strong performance against a Cowboys defense that allows the 5th-most fantasy points to slot receivers.

Look to take some shots on Tre Harris and Quentin Johnston this week, as the Texans have allowed the 4th-most fantasy points to outside receivers, giving both players an opportunity to produce in a favorable matchup.
Xavier Worthy tends to see more target opportunities against man coverage, which could work in his favor against a Jets defense that runs the 5th-highest rate of man coverage in the league. However, Worthy remains difficult to trust due to his inconsistent production.
Cooper Kupp could be worth a dart throw this week against a Cardinals defense that allows the 4th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Jordan Watkins and Christian Kirk could both move up into Tier or 2 if Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel miss Week 9.
Mack Hollins looks set to return in Week 9 and could be a solid sleeper option against a Packers defense that allows the 2nd-most fantasy points to outside receivers. His value would increase if A.J. Brown misses the game, but if both Brown and Hollins are out, Efton Chism could become an intriguing deep-league option.
Jordyn Tyson could return in Week 9, but I wouldn’t have much confidence in starting him, even if he’s cleared to play.
Treylon Burks and Dontayvion Wicks are both questionable for Week 9, making their injury statuses worth monitoring heading into the weekend.

Trey McBride faces a Seahawks defense that runs the highest rate of zone coverage in the league. McBride has consistently seen more targets and produced strong numbers on a per-route basis against zone coverage, making this a favorable matchup for his fantasy production.
George Kittle should see plenty of targets this week against a Raiders defense that has allowed the 4th-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.

T.J. Hockenson has thrived in the Vikings’ offense this season and draws a favorable matchup against a Bills defense that has allowed tight ends to produce at least 60 receiving yards in 3 of its last 4 games.
Travis Kelce draws a favorable matchup against a Jets defense that has allowed opposing tight ends to score at least 10 fantasy points in each of its last 3 games.
Tucker Kraft could struggle against a Patriots defense that runs the 3rd-highest rate of man coverage in the league. Kraft has been significantly less productive against man coverage this season, averaging just 0.10 targets per route run (TPRR) and 0.7 yards per route run (YPRR), compared to 0.26 TPRR and 1.9 YPRR against zone coverage.

Kyle Pitts will need to rely on his yardage production this week, as his touchdown upside could be limited against a Bengals defense that has not allowed a tight end to score this season.
Mike Gesicki has been on fire recently and draws a favorable matchup against a Falcons defense that has allowed opposing tight ends to produce at least 60 receiving yards in 3 of its last 4 games.
Greg Dulcich has seen an increase in opportunities since the Dolphins’ bye week and now faces a Lions defense that has allowed a tight end to score a touchdown in 6 of its 7 games this season.
Darren Waller remains an unpredictable fantasy option, but he could be worth a shot this week against a Broncos defense that has allowed a tight end to produce at least 60 receiving yards in 5 of its 8 games.
Tyler Higbee draws an extremely favorable matchup against a Commanders defense that has allowed a tight end to produce at least 50 receiving yards and a touchdown in 5 of its 7 games this season.
Hunter Henry is dealing with an injury that could force him to miss Week 9, potentially opening the door for Eli Raridon to take over as the Patriots’ primary tight end. However, the matchup is far from ideal, as the Packers allow the 2nd-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Could we see a bounce-back performance from Juwan Johnson this week? The Browns play a high rate of man coverage, which could work in Johnson’s favor, as he tends to see more target opportunities against man coverage.
Having Joe Milton at quarterback could actually benefit Dallas Goedert this week. The Giants also run a high rate of man coverage, a scheme against which Goedert has consistently seen more opportunities and produced strong numbers in both targets per route run (TPRR) and yards per route run (YPRR).

Terrance Ferguson could make his return in Week 9 and draws a favorable matchup against a defense that has allowed plenty of production to opposing tight ends this season.
Oronde Gadsden could struggle to see consistent targets against a Texans defense that has allowed the 2nd-fewest targets to tight ends this year.
The Chargers have allowed the 4th-most yards after the catch to tight ends this season, making this a favorable matchup for Dalton Schultz, who is averaging a solid 6.1 yards after the catch.
