Fantasy Playoff Factor #1: Adjusted Completion %
Our first key factor is Adjusted Completion % (Adj Comp %)—a stat that measures quarterback accuracy after accounting for drops, spikes, throwaways, batted passes, and plays under pressure.
Two quarterbacks who stand out as potential buy-low playoff targets are Lamar Jackson and Tua Tagovailoa. Both have favorable Adj Comp % matchups, meaning that at least two of the three defenses they’ll face during the fantasy playoffs are among the most generous in allowing high adjusted completion rates to opposing quarterbacks.
On the flip side, there are a few quarterbacks you may want to consider selling high on before the fantasy playoffs—notably Daniel Jones and Matthew Stafford. Both are set to face at least two defenses that rank among the toughest in Adj Comp % allowed to opposing quarterbacks.
Fantasy Playoff Factor #2: Zone & Man Coverage
Next up are the matchups vs Man and Zone coverages. The quarterbacks listed in the favorable columns for both coverages will face at least two defenses that run a high percentage of those specific coverage schemes during the fantasy playoffs.
These are considered favorable matchups because those quarterbacks have posted strong QB Ratings vs those coverages throughout the season—they’ve consistently produced when facing those defensive looks. Identifying these trends early gives you an advantage when planning for the playoff stretch or setting up potential trade targets.
There aren’t a lot of quarterbacks who fit favorable man coverage matchups, but one intriguing name is Justin Fields. If he manages to hold onto the starting job, he could quietly become a league-winning asset during the fantasy playoffs plus the rushing floor he offers.
On the flip side, Michael Penix Jr. stands out as a quarterback who has struggled against zone coverage this season. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, he’s projected to face multiple defenses that rely heavily on zone schemes during the playoff stretch.
Fantasy Playoff Factor #3: FPPG Allowed
Lastly, we look at Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) Allowed. This is the total fantasy production a defense gives up to opposing quarterbacks. This metric helps identify which defenses consistently limit scoring opportunities and suppress passing efficiency.
When reviewing playoff schedules, you can see a clear pattern with quarterbacks like Kyler Murray, Michael Penix Jr., and Matthew Stafford—all of whom will face tough defenses that allow low fantasy points and rank near the top in limiting Adjusted Completion %.
On the positive side, Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa both stand out with favorable playoff matchups. Each will face defenses that allow higher Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) to opposing quarterbacks and also rank among the league leaders in Adjusted Completion % allowed.
That combination creates a strong path for consistent fantasy production, especially for efficient passers like Tagovailoa and improving young quarterbacks like Love, who can capitalize on soft coverage looks and high-percentage throwing opportunities.

Indianapolis Colts (7-1) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)
Steelers TEs – if you need a dart throw at tight end, take a shot at the Steelers TEs, as they face the Colts, who have allowed a touchdown to the position in each of the last 3 games.
Daniel Jones – Should an uptick in efficiency and production against the Steelers allow the highest Adj Comp%(82.4%) in the league.
49ers receivers – the Giants have allowed an opposing receiver 80 or more yards in 5 straight games. It could be a bounce-back game for Kendrick Bourne if Ricky Pearsall misses again.
Jaxson Dart – the 49ers have allowed 240 or more passing yards in 4 straight games.

Start/Sit Trivia | The two longest receptions leading up to Week 9 are 87 and 88 yards. Who are the two receivers?
Bo Nix – Red Hot Nix could see some regression against the Texans. Houston has the 2nd-lowest Adj Comp% (70.6%). An Advanced stat that Nix struggles with at 74.9%.
Nico Collins: The veteran receiver is expected to return this week but faces a tough challenge as the Broncos allow the fewest TPPR of .18. Collins currently ranks 11th in TPPR among all receivers.
Alvin Kamara – You may want to avoid the veteran running back against the Rams, as they allow the fewest Exp Run % of 1.1%.
Matthew Stafford – It’s an easy start, but the Saints have dominated the last two weeks, and opposing QBs have failed to throw over 200 passing yards. This game could be a trap game for Stafford.
Chiefs Backfield: With Isaih Pachec in doubt, Kareem Hunt and Bradford Smith could finally offer some big runs against the Bills, who allow the second-highest Exp Run % at 8.4%.
Khalil Shakir – the Bills’ receivers have played the Chiefs each of the last 3 years and have not scored a touchdown against them.

Sam Darnold – While it may look like a good matchup on paper, the Commanders do bring a 45.6% pressure rate on quarterbacks, and Darnold struggles under pressure with a 33.2% completion rate. It could be a trap game.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt – The rookie running back could struggle on the ground against Seattle, as they allow the 2nd fewest Exp Run % of 1.2%.

Trey McBride – expect the star tight end to find the endzone as the Cowboys have allowed 15 endzone touchdowns, the most in the league. McBride ranks 2nd in endzone targets.
George Pickens – could see a reduction in targets this week as the Cardinals allow the 4th most targets to slot receivers, and Pickens only runs 11% of his routes from in the slot.

FAQ | Week 9 Start/Sit Advanced Stats Fantasy Football
Q1: How should I use advanced stats to make Week 9 fantasy football start and sit decisions? Use advanced stats to identify players with consistent opportunity and efficiency. Metrics like TGT% (Target Share), XFP/G (Expected Fantasy Points per Game), and Off. Snaps/G (Offensive Snaps per Game) show who’s heavily involved in their offense. Pair those with i20% (Inside 20 Rushing Share) and EZ TGT (End Zone Targets) to find players who have strong touchdown potential in Week 9 matchups.
Q2: Which quarterback stats matter most for Week 9 fantasy football lineups? Focus on QB metrics that measure both efficiency and performance under pressure. FP/DB (Fantasy Points per Dropback) and ANY/A (Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt) highlight overall fantasy efficiency. Meanwhile, Press% (Pressure Rate) and CPOE (Completion Percentage Over Expectation) show which quarterbacks can maintain production even when defenses bring heavy pressure.
Q3: What advanced stats identify breakout wide receivers for Week 9? Watch for wide receivers with strong TPRR (Targets Per Route Run), high ADOT (Average Depth of Target), and elite YAC% (Yards After Catch Percentage). Players with improving Man Win Rate and Zone Win Rate versus soft coverage matchups are the best bets to outperform expectations in both redraft and DFS lineups.
Q4: Which running back stats translate best for Week 9 fantasy football matchups? The most predictive RB stats are ATT% (Team Carry Share), i5% (Inside 5 Rushing Share), and Touches/G (Touches Per Game) — they highlight consistent volume and goal-line opportunity. Add in MTF/ATT (Missed Tackles Forced per Attempt) and YACO/ATT (Yards After Contact per Attempt) to see who’s creating their own yards. These numbers point to RBs who can sustain value even in tough matchups.
Q5: How can Week 9 Advanced Stats improve DFS and prop betting strategy? Advanced stats reveal upside opportunities that surface before the betting market catches up. Look for WRs with high ADOT and YAC% to target ceiling performances, QBs with low Press% for passing stability, and RBs with strong i20%and TD/G (Touchdowns per Game) for anytime-TD prop potential. These data trends can be the difference between a solid DFS lineup and a tournament winner.
Q6: What does the Confidence Meter indicate in the Week 9 Advanced Stats report? The Confidence Meter measures how reliable a player’s projection is based on a combination of volume and efficiency data. It blends usage metrics like Touches/G and TGT% with efficiency scores such as FP/DB and CPOE. A high Confidence Meter rating means a player’s role, matchup, and efficiency align — making them a stable start in Week 9 lineups.
